For some members of our community, the prospect of not getting to the shops might be particularly frightening. We are providing free support to anyone that is worried to help them manage with things like online shopping or utilities.
COVID-19 is unfortunately wreaking havoc with communities. With the potential prospect of shops closing, or people over the age of 70 being asked to self-isolate, we understand how potentially frightening that may seem to some.
For this reason, we are providing free support to anyone who is worried about how to manage if they find themselves in this situation. Our free support will include things like registering for online services, such as e-mail, food orders, Internet banking or even things like paying for electricity or mobile phone top-ups. We can help anyone that finds themselves lost or bewildered, or may not even have access to a computer at home.
What we can do to help
We can set up and register individuals with an e-mail account, if they don't already have one. We can also register individuals for their preferred supermarket, or online stores, and show them how to place essential orders so that no one is left without.
Many elderly members of our society still rely on paying for utilities such as electricity and pay-as-you-go mobile phones in person at stores. This can all be achieved online and we are ready to help show these individuals how to do so and how to get set up.
We also recognise that some members of our community are particularly distrustful of entering payment details online. We can help in this situation too, if these individuals are able to visit us in-store and carry out the transaction with us.
How is this service provided?
Anyone within our local area can benefit from this free support, without any means-testing or criteria.
At present, we are asking individuals to come to our store for in-store support and tuition. However, if individuals are unable to reach our store, we may be able to help over the phone. Please call us on 01292 857506 to discuss your needs and we can see what we can do.
This service is free
We believe small businesses are part of the community. In uncertain times, community comes together and does what is right. For that reason, these support services are provided completely free of charge and Berserk Computers makes no financial gain, incentive or commission by providing this support.
What else are we doing to help?
Our store at 10 New Bridge Street, Ayr, KA7 1JX is continuing to operate as normal for the time being. All of our home call-out services are also operating as normal but we continue to monitor the advice from the UK & Scottish Governments.
Collect & Return Service
We provide this service as a convenience to busy customers. This is where we arrange to pick up your faulty computer from your home or work, repair it at our store, and then we return it to you at your home or workplace. It costs a little bit more than normal in-store services but you might like to consider this, if you are unable to reach our store.
If you are self-isolating, please let us know. We can arrange to collect your system safely using collection bags that we can provide and disinfect.
A lot of our technical support services can be carried out remotely. Once we guide you through the necessary steps and you authorise us, we can connect to your computer all without the need for it to go anywhere or for anyone to come out to your house. We log our activities during remote support sessions and you can disconnect at any time.
In addition to this, we also provide video support calls. This allows us to view your computer setup and work with you during the call to resolve the issue.
